Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Participates in the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva

  The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties participated in the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA78), held in Geneva from May 19 to 27, 2025, as part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s official delegation, which brought together representatives of member states and international health organizations. During its participation, the Commission showcased its key initiatives in developing and qualifying the health workforce, while the SCFHS delegation explored avenues for cooperation to strengthen strategic partnerships and examined leading trends and policies in the fields of health diplomacy, standards, and training. This took place through bilateral sessions and dialogue meetings with global health influencers and decision-makers, during which the Commission highlighted its strategic efforts in building international partnerships and aligning with advanced global health policies and trends, as part of its commitment to supporting international efforts to address global health challenges. SCFHS’s representatives also delivered a number of interactive dialogue sessions, with the delegation led by Dr. Mohammed bin Youssef Al-Rassi, Chief Executive Officer for Development and Institutional Excellence. He addressed prospects for cooperation with British institutions in qualifying health professionals, with a particular focus on digital transformation and leveraging modern technologies to serve the healthcare sector. These dialogue sessions formed part of broader discussions on several key issues contributing to the development of the healthcare sector at both the local and international levels, supporting the achievement of the Commission’s strategic objectives in alignment with the Health Sector Transformation Program and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Concludes Its Participation in the Association for Medical Education in Europe Conference (AMEE 2025)

  The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties yesterday concluded its participation in the Association for Medical Education in Europe Conference (AMEE 2025), which was held this year in Barcelona, Spain, from August 23 to 27, 2025, under the theme “Innovating Medical Education: Shaping the Future of Healthcare Learning.” The conference brought together a distinguished group of international experts and specialists in health and medical education. SCFHS participated in AMEE 2025 as a Gold Sponsor, contributing four scientific presentations that showcased its experience in health education across training, assessment, and professional development. The first presentation highlighted the “Daem” Program and its role as a national umbrella initiative supporting the mental health and well-being of trainees and healthcare practitioners. The second presentation addressed the Code Blue (“Serious Incidents”) Project in training, which serves as a national framework for enhancing the quality of the training environment. The third presentation focused on the National E-Learning Self-Directed Program for Continuing Professional Development related to the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCOD), while the fourth contribution was a scientific poster on faculty development in health education through the launch of innovative, technology-driven programs. In addition, the Commission organized a workshop on advancing primary healthcare training, discussing an enhanced training model aligned with current needs at both the local and international levels. SCFHS’s pavilion attracted strong interest from conference attendees, who learned about its role, experiences, and achievements in medical education, as well as the modern educational approaches adopted in its postgraduate Saudi Board programs. These approaches have resulted in high-quality learning environments for trainers and trainees, grounded in contemporary health education principles. Through this participation, the Commission aims to strengthen its international presence by building effective strategic partnerships with academic and professional institutions, exchanging expertise with leading global entities, and keeping pace with the latest innovations in education, assessment, and technologies within the healthcare training sector.

Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Participates in the 16th International Conference on Medical Regulation 2025

The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties participated in the 16th International Conference on Medical Regulation 2025, organized by the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA) and hosted by the Irish Medical Council. The conference was held from September 3 to 6, 2025, under the theme “Human-Centered Medical Regulation for a Safer Global Community,” with the participation of numerous experts and specialists in the field of medical regulation. During the conference, SCFHS delivered a session titled “The Journey of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Toward a Sound Regulatory Approach.” It also took part in several panel discussions and workshops related to medical regulation, in its capacity as a national regulatory authority dedicated to developing healthcare competencies and enabling them to compete globally. In addition, the Commission organized a number of bilateral meetings to explore opportunities for collaboration within its internationally oriented strategic initiatives. These initiatives include attracting outstanding international trainees to enroll in Saudi Board programs and promoting mutual recognition of healthcare qualifications. SCFHS’s pavilion witnessed strong interest from visitors representing various participating countries. Attendees were introduced to the Commission’s regulatory role and its internationally recognized experience in integrating the health education and training system with the healthcare service delivery system across all healthcare sectors and specialties. Visitors also learned about the Commission’s approach to registration and professional development for more than 770,000 healthcare practitioners, as well as its oversight of training within the Saudi Board, from which more than 30,000 graduates have completed their training since its inception.
