About the Center
The National Center for Health Workforce Planning was established under the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties in 2019 as a strategic step reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the healthcare sector, through the development of integrated methodologies for health workforce planning. The Center works to anticipate health workforce needs and analyze supply, demand, and required skills, contributing to achieving balance between the health workforce and labor market needs.
Since its establishment, the Center focuses on building an accurate knowledge base that supports decision-making, identifying gaps in health specialties, and proposing practical solutions to address them and limit their expansion in the future. It also contributes to providing recommendations to develop policies and directions related to health education and training programs and professional competencies, thereby enhancing the readiness of healthcare cadres and raising the efficiency of the healthcare system.
Within the framework of its role, the Center works to strengthen integration among relevant entities and establish strategic partnerships with local, regional, and international organizations, supporting the planning of health workforce initiatives and contributing to achieving the objectives of health transformation and improving the quality of healthcare in the Kingdom.
