The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) announced the accreditation of the first seven seasonal training sites affiliated with the Makkah Health Cluster for postgraduate Saudi Board programs in health specialties. This significant step enhances the efficiency of the training system and aligns with leading global models.
By accrediting seasonal training sites, SCFHS aims to enhance training quality and diversify learning environments to include high-density seasonal events and occasions, such as the Hajj season, major sporting events, and international conferences. The accreditation also provides trainees with opportunities to manage diverse clinical cases and gain specialized practical experience in managing health crises under accredited training supervision in different healthcare settings, thereby supporting the health transformation objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The accreditation of the Makkah Health Cluster sites is valid for four years and covers East Arafat Hospital, Mina Emergency Hospital, Mina New Street Hospital, Mina Al-Jisr Hospital, Mina Al-Wadi Hospital, Namira Hospital, and Jabal Al-Rahmah Hospital. It covers several health specialties that require exposure to diverse cases and clinical experiences, including Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and other health specialties.
Institutional and program accreditation at SCFHS aims to ensure that training centers have the administrative, educational, and clinical capabilities required for training. This contributes to providing an outstanding learning environment for trainers and trainees, grounded in the principles of health professions education, and enables trainees to receive high-quality training that prepares them for safe professional practice in their respective specialties.
