The Official Oath of the Healthcare Practitioner
The official oath of the healthcare practitioner represents one of the most significant symbols of professional commitment, reflecting the practitioner’s dedication to the noble mission of healthcare and its humanitarian and ethical values. It embodies the professional pledge that binds healthcare practitioners to their responsibilities toward patients and society, while reaffirming their commitment to delivering healthcare services in accordance with the highest standards of integrity, competence, and professionalism.
The Board of Trustees of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties approved the official oath of the healthcare practitioner pursuant to the Law of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties issued by Royal Decree No. (M/2) dated 6/2/1413H, and in accordance with the Board of Trustees Bylaws approved by Resolution No. (28/A/2019) dated 29/12/2019. Following the review of the recommendation submitted by the Executive Committee during its second meeting in 2025, the Board endorsed the official wording of the oath.
The official oath plays a vital role in strengthening the principles that underpin healthcare practice. It reinforces adherence to professional values and ethical standards, affirms the practitioner’s responsibility toward patients and society, safeguards human dignity and privacy, fosters public trust in healthcare professions and practitioners, and contributes to the continuous improvement of healthcare quality and patient safety.
